Washington state extended the deadline for caregiver training requirements because of COVID-19 impacts. New Basic Training and Continuing Education (CE) deadlines have been provided to caregivers with outstanding requirements.

If you do not finish your training by your deadline, you will not be able to continue working as a paid caregiver.

Basic Training Deadlines

The Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) set new deadlines for caregivers based on your hire date.

If you have questions about your deadline, please contact your employer. Agency Providers (APs) should contact their agency. Individual Providers (IPs) should contact Consumer Direct Care Network Washington (CDWA).

Basic Training Requirements Based on Caregiver Type

How to Enroll in Basic Training 70 and 7 

  • Individual Providers (IPs): Enroll by calling the Member Resource Center (MRC) at 1-866-371-3200 or by emailing mrc@myseiubenefits.org. They are available from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
  • Agency Providers (APs): Enroll by contacting your employer.

How to Enroll in Basic Training 30 and 9

You can enroll in and complete both trainings online.

To begin:

  1. Go to myseiu.be/online22.
  2. Enter the email address you gave when you were hired into the Email field.
  3. Type Summer2022 as your password. Once you log in, you will be asked to update your temporary password and confirm your contact information.
  4. Once you are online, you can complete your training from your online dashboard.

Continuing Education (CE) Deadlines

All caregivers with an outstanding CE requirement for 2019, 2020, 2021 or 2022 must complete it by February 24, 2023. After this date, your annual CE due date is your birthday.

If you have a birthday between January 1 and February 24, 2023, you also have until February 24, 2023 to complete your CEs.

How to Complete Your CEs

You can now complete CEs in 3 different formats:

  • Online Courses: Available any time to take on your schedule.
  • Webinars: Live, scheduled, instructor-led online webinars that you can take from home.
  • In-Person Courses: In-person, instructor-led training courses in your area.

Please only take the number of credits that you have outstanding. Any credits you take over your 2022 CE requirement will not be applied to your 2023 CE requirement.

Standard Home Care Aides (HCAs) Renewal Fee

If you are a Standard Home Care Aides (HCA), you must pay your renewal fee by your original CE deadline even if you have not completed your annual training requirement.

In your renewal application you can say that you are in compliance with their CE requirement.
