Vice President Biden Highlights Training Partnership in Jobs Report

At the White House on Tuesday, July 22, 2014, Training Partnership Executive Director Charissa Raynor attended a special event that highlighted the work of the Training Partnership and innovative job training programs as part of a push to boost economic opportunities for middle-class Americans. President Obama and Vice President Biden delivered remarks about new efforts to help expand opportunity for more workers by ensuring they have access to the training and skills they need for the good jobs of today.

Vice President Biden released a report, “Ready to Work: Job-Driven Training & American Opportunity [July 2014],” which emphasizes the critical role training providers have in connecting working people to opportunity. This report features SEIU Healthcare NW Training Partnership’s Apprentice Program as a model for “earn while you learn” apprenticeship programs. In addition, President Obama signed H.R. 803, the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act, which helps improve employer engagement and accountability across federally funded job training programs.
