Thanks for your interest in the SEIU Healthcare NW Training Partnership Home Care Aide Apprenticeship program! You have the opportunity to take part in a new statewide initiative to provide enriching employment experiences to Home Care Aides and high-quality care to consumers. Read on for more information about the apprenticeship, the field of home health, and how you can apply.

Key details of the program:

  • 330 openings statewide at a variety of long-term care employers
  • Guaranteed, immediate employment as a condition of acceptance into the program
  • 145 hours of innovative classroom training, at no cost to you, to be completed in anywhere from four to eight months
  • You will be paired with a mentor who is experienced in the field of home health
  • You will receive a raise upon completion of Advanced Training (after Basic Training)

 

Why become an apprentice?

  • Earn while you learn. You will be paid for attending Basic Training modules.
  • Attend training near your worksite. With many sites around the state, you will likely find a training location located nearby your employer.
  • Increase your skills in teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and more.
  • Gain access to an experienced home care aide to answer questions and provide guidance.
  • Receive advanced training, enabling you to specialize your skills in home health.

Brought to you by a grant funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act through the U.S. Department of Labor, this is a project of the WA Health Care Worker Training Coalition led by the Workforce Training and Education Coordinating Board. Two thirds of the funding, or some 66 percent, comes from the U.S. Department of Labor through a $5 million grant.
