As planned, the new, 75-hour basic training curriculum was delivered beginning January 1, 2011. To assist you in this transition, Home Care Aides we will be provided with a new hire packet. The packet will arrive the first week in January and will contain the 5-hour Safety and Orientation (S&O) DVD, instructions on receiving credit for S&O, a training wizard questionnaire and information on the Training Partnership. The packet is translated into Russian, Spanish, Cantonese, Korean and Vietnamese.

What is Safety and Orientation?
Safety and Orientation is the first 5 hours of the 75-hour curriculum that is required before a home care aide can begin providing services. It is NOT employer-specific. The new Safety and Orientation curriculum is delivered on DVD and was developed by the Training Partnership to prepare Home Care Aides to work in most long-term care settings. Similar to the new-hire packet, it is translated into Russian, Spanish, Cantonese, Korean and Vietnamese.
