Get Covered

High-quality health insurance that honors your high-quality care.

Care Begins with Health Insurance

We want you and your family to get the coverage you need whether you have never had insurance or you were covered by the Health Benefits Trust but have lost coverage due to a reduction in your hours. Learn more about the health care options available to you below, and find out if you qualify for health care through the Health Benefits Trust.

Find Out if You Qualify

If you are not eligible for health care benefits through the Health Benefits Trust, you can find affordable health care options through the Washington Health Benefits Exchange (also called Obamacare or Affordable Care Act). Depending on your household income, you may also qualify for free health care coverage through Medicaid or Apple Health.

Depending on your household income, you may qualify for free health care coverage through Medicaid/Apple Health. Find out if you qualify for Apple Health during the open enrollment period (November 15, 2014, through February 15, 2014). You can enroll at any time if you have a qualifying event. If you don’t qualify for Medicaid, you may still qualify for LOW-COST insurance. On average, people pay about $82 per month.

Did You Know?

Did you know? Medicaid has changed its name to Apple Health for both adults and children.

How Long Will the Process Take?

  • If you are accepted, you will receive a Services Card in about two weeks.
  • Coverage will begin on the first day of the month in which the application was submitted.

Other Affordable Options for You and Your Family if You Do Not Qualify for Medicaid/Apple Health

Low-cost health insurance is now available for eligible middle- to low-income individuals and families. Washington’s Healthplanfinder is the only way to access these savings.

Here Are a Few Pro Tips!

  • Be a smart shopper! On the Healthplanfinder home page, be sure to click on the “Find and Compare Health Plans” link, as well as the “Find Quality Coverage” links to compare plan choices.
  • Check out the approved 2015 Qualified Health and Dental Plans
  • Check out the new rates
  • Returning enrollees: If you already have a plan you like from the 2014 open enrollment period, there’s no need to log in or complete a new application. The Healthplanfinder will automatically re-enroll you in your existing plan if you do nothing. In the event your insurer discontinues your plan, you’ll be shifted to a similar plan. Sign in to your Washington Healthplanfinder account to learn more.

What Will My New Insurance Cover?

Whatever plan you choose will cover these important benefits for your spouses and children:

  • Doctor visits
  • Prescriptions
  • Urgent care visits
  • Maternity and infant care
  • Mental health
  • Vaccinations
  • Mammograms
  • Pap smears
  • Cholesterol screening
  • Blood pressure screening
  • Colorectal cancer screening
  • Hospitalizations

What Do I Need to Apply?

  • Social Security numbers of everyone who will be on your plan. (You do not need the actual cards, just the numbers.)
  • Date of birth for everyone who will be on your plan.
  • Immigration information.
  • Income information. A recent W-2 or pay stub helps.
  • Any current health insurance information if you have it.

Do I Need to Renew if I Signed Up Last Year?

Your current health insurance will automatically renew. However, you may qualify for more financial assistance this year or find a better plan on the Washington Healthplanfinder.

There are many more plans to choose from this year, so we recommend checking to see if you can find a better deal.
